Bespoke training for your school:

Supporting practical, creative, knowledge building or effective skills-based learning and teaching in the Primary Classroom. Chris can design bespoke practical, hands-on staff meetings or INSET on:

  • Responses to specific OFSTED areas for development, eg developing subject leader roles, AFL, starters and plenaries
  • Creative curriculum development (all show how to ensure rigour and progression, with meaningful links)
  • Cross curricular planning: starting from a story, artefact, visit or theme
  • Practical creative book-making. Exciting, simple, interactive methods to display children’s work in booklets or on the wall.
  • Creative cross curricular links to any story, e.g. working alongside Cheshire author Rachael Lindsay ( “The Warrior Troll” or “The Bogler’s Apprentice”)
  • Inspiration for helping you to celebrate a school’s Centenary or Birthday.
  • Developing writing opportunities across the curriculum

Learning outside the classroom:

Maximising potential for using the school’s grounds, visits to museums or countryside parks or residential centres.

Support for Primary History or Geography:

  • Practical interactive Geography or History for KS1/ KS2
  • Using Primary sources of evidence (artefacts/documents) in enquiry- led work
  • Exploring local legendary landscapes and History mysteries
  • Combined Humanities INSET: knowledge or skills based.
  • Support for Humanities subject leaders/coordinators, followed by a whole school staff meeting to meet identified requirements
  • Making Geography matter! Developing global and local citizens of the future.
  • Ideas for using IT to develop class based work in History or Geography.

Practical school support for Assessment, Teaching Assistants & other areas:

  • Practical planning and effective assessment strategies for KS1/2- in all subjects.
  • Assessment for Learning – practical well tried suggestions for all subjects.
  • Practical ideas for teaching assistants across the curriculum, including Maths.
  • Support for “Economic well being” within the Every Child Matters Agenda.
  • Raising self esteem in children: supporting personal, social, behavioural issues.
  • Ideas for supporting One to One Tuition for KS2
